Abigail Breslin reveals she received terrifying death threats over Aussie ex Michael Clifford: ‘It was traumatising’

Abigail Breslin has revealed she got a series of terrifying ”death threats” after she released a track about her Australian rocker ex, 5SOS band member Michael Clifford.

When the Little Miss Sunshine star, 27, appeared on the video podcast series Vulnerable, Breslin admitted to writing her 2014 track You Suck about him after their breakup when she was just a teenager.

But for the actress and singer, she said the period after their breakup was a ”traumatising experience” after getting so much “hate online”.

“It was the most traumatising experience… because I did write the song about him basically because, you know, you’re 17, 16 or 17… and I definitely had a much bigger idea of what this relationship was than maybe he thought,” she began.

“I had gotten what I felt to be ‘burned’ by him in some way, and I wrote a very bad song called You Suck about him. I did not realise though that people would put two and two together so much; didn’t realise that, like, the week before I released it he was going to become this huge boy band.”

“I was getting death threats sent to me. People were showing up outside of my apartment. All this crazy, crazy s–t,” she added.

She added: “I had this onslaught of these girls just literally hating on me.”

The song angered 5SOS fans at the time.

Shortly afterwards, Clifford, now 28, was asked about the track and subsequent backlash while appearing on Nova’s Smallzy’s Surgery.

He said: ”I haven’t spoken to her [Abigail] in a year. I just…I don’t know.”

Lyrics in the song included: ”I hate your dumb tattoo, I wish you’d fly to the moon where there are no girls to use or screw over.’’

Clifford also later tweeted: “I didn’t find your joke song funny.”

The young pair were first linked together in 2013.

Now, they have both moved on and are both married, with Breslin being married to businessman Ira Kunyansky, while Clifford is married to Crystal Leigh.
