Boothferry Park used to be the home of Hull City, who now play at the MKM Stadium.

Initially boasting a capacity of 15,000 due to only being partially completed, it opened in 1946 after the end of World War Two.

Boothferry Park was originally planned way back in 1929, and it took a further three years for work to even begin.

But financial problems saw development grind to a halt.

And it incredibly took an entire 17 years for the stadium to open its doors to fans.

The record attendance at Boothferry Park was a staggering 55,000 for 1949’s clash against Manchester United after the heights of the terraces were increased.

And plenty of other sports took place at the stadium, including rugby league and basketball.

However, financial problems hit again, and part of the stadium was unbelievably converted into a supermarket in 1982.

Hull City continued to play at Boothferry Park until 2002, when they moved to their current home.

And for the next five years their old ground remained completely abandoned.

However, the stadium no longer stands there these days after demolition work running from 2008 to 2011.

Instead, it is now a housing estate for residents of Hull.

And little remains to remind those present of what used to be.
