A MUM spotted her baby son’s rare cancer using her smartphone’s camera.
Sarah Hedges thought she glimpsed a glow like a cat’s eye in three-month-old Thomas’ retina.

SWNSThomas was diagnosed with a rare form of eye cancer called retinoblastoma[/caption]
So she took photos with her flash which confirmed what she saw.
The 40-year-old mum of four showed her GP the pics and tests proved Thomas had an eye cancer called retinoblastoma.
He finished chemotherapy in May and is recovering well.
Support worker Sarah, of Gillingham, Kent, said: “I thought my son was going to die.
“I thought I was going to lose him, when you hear the word cancer you automatically think of the worse – this can be life-threatening.
“I just wanted to be swallowed up and someone to tell me that it was a bad dream and that I would wake up in a minute.
“My world just fell apart.
“I just sobbed he just kept talking and holding my hand trying to comfort me.”
Thomas is now recovering well and Sarah said: “He’s a very happy little boy.
“He loves playing with his older brother rough and tumble on the floor.”
