A £16 bag for avoiding Ryanair hand luggage charges has been crowned this summer’s ‘It bag’

FORGET splurging your holiday cash on those fancy straw baskets with your initials, or a designer rucksack – this summer’s bag of the moment is a cheap holdall from Amazon.

Thanks to ever stricter hand luggage rules from budget airlines like Ryanair, the accessory on every Brit’s travel list costs just £15.99.

KonoA passenger has described an under seat bag as a “game-changer” for travelling with budget airlines[/caption]

The bag in question is the Kono 35x20x20 Holdall Cabin Luggage, and is currently on sale for £15.99 on Amazon.

It says is accepted on several airlines including easyJet and Ryanair.

The hand luggage bag can hold up to 20 litres, and comes with adjustable straps, a mounting sleeve on the rear of the bag for sliding over a trolley handle, and several compartments.

The bag has become a TikTok viral sensation, thanks to its Mary Poppins-ability to carry a week’s clothes and still fit under the plane seat in front – therefore avoiding Ryanair’s £6 – £30 charge for large bags that go in the overhead locker.

It has now become so popular, that the fashion desk at The Guardian has labelled the no-frills holdall, “This summer’s holiday ‘It’ bag.”

One of the bag’s many TikTok fans is Bricks By Chay whose video of her packing everything she needed for a few days away gained more than 148,000 views.

In the clip, she said: “If you’ve only got an under seat bag, this Kono bag is a game-changer.

“I’m packing for a weekend away, I’ve got two T-shirts and a pair of shorts, two pairs of leggings and a pair of trousers. Then I’ve got five pairs of underwear, a dress, and a jumper in case it gets cold.”

She also packed plenty of other items too including a cardigan, three pairs of socks, two bras, and a pair of pyjamas.

Other items included a toiletries bag, a hairbrush, a pair of sandals, a phone charger, a power bank, a Kindle, a passport, and some sunglasses.

At the end of the video, she even managed to squeeze a pair of straighteners into the bag by sliding them inside her sandals.

A fellow fan added in the comments: “Perfect for easyJet, I had the same and used it for a week in Turkey.”

The bag has a 4.3/5 star rating from 1,617 reviews on Amazon.

One customer wrote: “I used this a few times now and it seems to be very durable, it’s ideal for those budget airline trips.”

Another said: ” It is absolutely spot on, the perfect size for under the seat on a plane.”

A third added: “It’s perfect for flights including Ryanair. It fits lots in despite its size.”

And there are plenty of other small carry-on bags that holidaymakers and travel experts have been raving about in recent years.

One of those is the Narwey Duffel Bag, which meets Ryanair’s strict personal item requirements and only costs £15.99.

Sun Online Travel recently put the under seat bag through its paces on a five-day trip to Europe.

Meanwhile, another couple revealed how they avoided paying for luggage on flights by only travelling with the Narwey duffel bag.
