Man Utd want Chelsea academy star who is being ‘forced out’ in January transfer but face fight with two European giants

MANCHESTER UNITED reportedly want to sign Chelsea outcast Trevoh Chalobah, who is being “forced out” of the club.

But they face a fight with two European giants to land the versatile defender this winter.

Chalobah, 24, has been frozen out of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans after picking up an injury in pre-season.

The centre-back is yet to make an appearance this term after rejecting a deadline day move to Nottingham Forest.

And TeamTalk claims Chalobah is now a target for struggling Man United.

The Red Devils are keen on strengthening their backline following injuries to Lisandro Martinez, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw.

Chalobah can play all positions in a four or five-man defence.

And United hope they can negotiate a deal with Todd Boehly after signing Mason Mount from Stamford Bridge over the summer.

But Chelsea are looking for £45million for Chalobah, who himself prefers to stay and fight for a place in London.

United also face strong interest from Bayern Munich, whose boss Thomas Tuchel handed Chalobah his senior Chelsea debut two years ago.

And Borussia Dortmund could yet make a move after making contact last month.

However, United have been boosted by the fact that if Chalobah is forced out in January, he would prefer to stay in England than move abroad.

The ace also wants to play European football, with United currently in the Champions League and hoping to progress from the group stage.
