Worst way to treat a foggy window will make it HARDER to see & could cost you £2,500 fine, expert car cleaner reveals

A VIRAL TikTok video has revealed the worst possible way to treat a foggy car window.

The silly trick we’ve all thought about doing before can make it much harder to see and cost you up to £2,500 in brutal fines, according to an expert car cleaner.

The video starts with the popular TikToker preciseauto.sg giving a warning to his viewers about how they get their cars ready to go in the morning after a bitterly cold night.

He says: “When there is a fog on your cars windshield do not wipe it with a cloth or tissue.”

Before brandishing it ineffective and saying it can cause your car to become unsafe and put you in a potentially dangerous position.

According to the RAC official website, wiping your cars windscreen is a huge no go as most of us will wipe it badly and leave dodgy marks.

These might look better in the short term but can become harder to see through as time goes by.

RAC also warns that drivers who don’t de-ice their car could receive a fixed penalty notice under the CU20 penalty code.

Along with the fine you could also get three penalty points if your car is in a “dangerous condition” and if the driver can’t see the full view of the road and traffic ahead of them.

The great tip was posted to TikTok by preciseauto.sg who has over 8,000 followers.

The video has over 730,000 views and a whopping 22,000 people have saved the helpful clip for when they face a similar frosty problem.

The influencer goes on to tell his fans that almost all cars have an automatic windshield defogging function that they have to start using.

Go to your aircon button or dial turn on the recirculation mode which should look like a car with an arrow inside it, usually sandwiched between the heating buttons.

Then click on the front windshield defrost button and the air pockets by your dashboard should start blowing a hot wind up.

Then watch as any foggy windows disappear on those chilly early starts.

The button apparently called a demister in most car handbooks has been around for decades on almost every car but is hardly used.

Viewers were quick to thank preciseauto.sg for the ingenious hack.

A fan said: “Thanks I thought the button is for accessory only.”

While a second replied: “Wow my car has fog issues and this vid helped a lot ty!”

Lots of people in the comments jumped to voice their opinion on other methods they use.

One advised others to: “Just turn on your AC guys”.

As another shared his special tip saying: “Drop all the windows… works too.”

Useful tips have been flooding the internet recently as winter approaches.

A man called Dave from Epic Automotive Detailing took to his YouTube channel to share a brilliant hack in four easy steps.

Elsewhere, an EV driver has revealed constant AC and range anxiety plagued their roadtrip to Italy.

This comes after a major law change by the Government could impact millions of EV drivers.
