A GRANDMOTHER who was accused of being ‘at fault’ because her car was torched in Luton Airport’s car park fire has had her name cleared.
Cath Glaze had said it was “traumatic and upsetting” to lose her car in the blaze, something that was made worse by the claim’s rejection.

But in a hopeful twist, Cath received an email this week after pushing back against the company’s claim.
The email said the insurance firm would be “settling all claims in relation to the fire that was in Luton Airport car parks as ‘non fault’.”
“We wish to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and to advise you that we are doing everything we can to settle your claim as soon as possible,” the email read, according to The Mirror.
The reversal came after Cath and her husband Martyn had been enjoying a holiday in Portugal and left their car at the airport.
But the vehicle became one of the nearly 1,500 in the Luton airport carpark when it burned on October 10.
The inferno prompted a 12-hour response from more dozens of fire fighters to put the blaze out.
Both Cath and Martyn praised EasyJet and Luton for keeping them updated but said they don’t know if the car will be “salvageable”.
After discovering the devastating news, the pair had been contacted by insurers, but were stunned at being told they could be “at fault” over the loss.
Their proposed settlement offer was £7,000, £13,000 less than what Cath paid for the car.
Luton Airport said it had passed on the details of 1,405 cars to the Motor Insurer’s Bureau.
Operations director Neil Thompson added: “We are continuing to focus on the safety and integrity of the car park.
“This will enable us to carry out a full assessment which, as we have previously said, can only happen once safety can be assured.
“We are continuing to work incredibly hard to provide insurers with this information as quickly as we can to assist them so, in turn, they can help those affected as quickly as possible.”
Mr Thompson said he could not give a “definitive timeline” for the completion of the assessment.
It comes after police probing the blaze made an arrest, with an unnamed man in his 30s questioned on suspicion of criminal damage.
The cause of the fire was revealed after fire crews denied rumours it was started by an EV.
