Hardcore combat sports fans were itching to see the 29-year-old in action due to his 90 per cent knockout ratio.

But many casual fans of the sport tuned in to see how he fared as he only has one functioning eye.

The Dagestani destroyer is blind in his right eye – which was damaged early during his combat sports career – and had part of it removed.

Remarkably, however, he still manages to compete at a high level.

And his lack of vision in his right eye didn’t hinder him one bit as he picked up his first octagon win against veteran Bruno Silva via unanimous decision.

MMA fans were quick to comment on the Dagestani’s impressive debut victory, in which he showcased his incredible array of kicks, with one saying: “One-eyed willy lived up to the hype.

Another said: “The man with one eye wins!!

And another said: “This Shara Magmodev bluhd has one eye? Another Dagestan madman.”

One remarked: “How can Shara be that accurate and see that good with one bad eye and the other moving like a rolling marble?”

And another chimed in: “I’m already a fan of Magomedov one eye guy.”

Magomedov recently recalled the partial removal of his eye, which kept him on the sidelines for two years as he underwent eight operations to try and restore his vision.

He told Athletistic: “Before the operation, I was mainly afraid of an injection in the eye.

“I watched this video. Very unpleasant. I thought that was the most boring thing ever.

“And there were such operations when an injection in the eye had to be made, where it was removed, one might say.

“At this time, local anaesthesia is administered, but you feel everything.

“They pierce [the eye] from two or three sides. It seems that a puncture is a camera, and the other two are something to pump, upload something there.

“I had many different stages, my eyes were tortured specifically.”
