I’m a motors expert – my bizarre £3 hack will stop windows getting misty in cold weather… it’s weird but it works

A CAR expert has revealed how a bizarre £3 hack can stop your windows from getting misty in cold weather.

Temperatures across Britain have started to plummet as winter approaches.

Experts have come up with an unusual solution to combating misty windows

And a rare red “danger to life” warning was in place as Storm Babet hit Britain on Wednesday – bringing ten inches of rain in some areas.

But one expert has come up with a rather unique solution to combat the issue of misty windows drivers are likely to face in the coming weeks and months.

Car specialists at UK-based Leasing Options have suggested placing cat litter in a pair of tights to soak up moisture.

The pellets are designed to absorb pet excretions.

But the experts say they can also be used to absorb moisture in the air.

Their advice says: “Put fresh cat litter in a pair of tights, tie them to secure and place them on the windscreen and rear window shelf to soak up any occurring moisture.”

Mike Thompson, chief operating officer of Leasing Options, adds: “There are many hacks for preventing moisture and some are, granted, more effective than others.

“Ultimately, drivers need to keep windows clean to prevent moisture from clinging to dirt.

“Avoid leaving wet items in the car, like damp umbrellas and jackets as these will add more moisture to the air.

“To de-mist your car quickly on the go, start the heaters off cold and increase the temperature gradually once the air has dried.

“Point the direction of your heaters to your dashboard so the air flow warms and dries any moisture sitting on the windows.”

It comes as another motors expert has revealed a number of simple tricks to help you save money on your car.
