Hollie Doyle admits ‘huge mistake’ is set to rule her out of Breeders’ Cup

HOLLIE DOYLE admits her ‘huge mistake’ could rule her out of her key ride aboard Bradsell in the Breeders’ Cup.

The superstar jockey picked up a seven-day careless riding ban while aboard Rose Light at Kempton on Monday night.

Doyle will hope her appeal against a ban is successful and she can ride Bradsell in the Breeders’ CupPA

Doyle was earlier this month given a suspended one-month ban after testing positive for a banned substance.

If the careless riding ban is upheld then it means she will miss the world championships of racing at Santa Anita on November 3/4.

But she intends to appeal the ruling – praying that leaves the door open to riding Archie Watson’s star sprinter in the States.

Doyle told the Racing Post: “I’m going to try to appeal next Thursday with the representation of Rory Mac Neice.

“I made a huge mistake and I know that. Visually it didn’t look great but what I did was minimal.”

If the ban sticks then it will run from October 30 to December 6 – the day before Doyle rides Future History in the Melbourne Cup.

Victory in the ‘race that stops a nation’ would just about make up for missing the Breeders’ Cup.

Although it’s on Bradsell that record-breaking Doyle has had so much success.

She has been in the saddle for seven of the three-year-old colt’s eight career rides.

They had Group 2 success in the Coventry at Royal Ascot in 2022 and backed it up this year with a win in the Group 1 King’s Stand.

Together the dream duo have won connections over £500,000.

Bradsell is currently a best-price 8-1 chance for the Turf Sprint, in a field headed by British and Irish raiders.

Highfield Princess is the 4-1 fav, while Adam West’s front-running Live In The Dream is 13-2.

Recent Group 2 Newmarket winner Matilda Picotte is 7-1, with Bradsell just ahead of Aidan O’Brien’s Aesop’s Fables and Ralph Beckett’s Kinross at 10s.
