Canelo Alvarez had a brutal response for McGregor after being trolled

McGregor, 35, fought an exhibition against Mayweather, 46, in 2017.

The highly-anticipated bout saw the UFC superstar make the switch to boxing.

And despite an impressive early start, McGregor was eventually outclassed before losing to a 10th round KO.

He was just the latest in a long line of top fighters taken down by Mayweather, who boasts an incredible 50-0 record.

One of those who struggled to get the best of the American was Canelo, now regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet.

His 2013 light middleweight championship bout with Mayweather ended in defeat following a majority decision.

It was Canelo’s first ever loss and just his second in 64 career fights to date.

Many agree Mayweather’s performance went down in history, with the ace dominating throughout.

And while responding to a clip of the bout on social media, Irishman McGregor hailed Mayweather’s performance against Canelo as one of the best ever.

Going on to call out Mayweather for a rematch while trolling Canelo in the process, McGregor said: “One of the greatest performances in Professional Boxing this was.

“I landed more shots on Floyd than Canelo. I’d love another go.”

However, Canelo was none too pleased with McGregor’s words.

And he issued a brutal response, saying: “I just need one hand with you and I don’t need to throw so many punches.”

Fans were certainly left excited by the prospect of a crossover fight.

One said: “I would pay to see Canelo vs McGregor with the one-arm handicap in play.”

Another declared: “Let’s do this!”

One noted: “Make this fight happen.”

Another added: “Send him the contract.”
