I’m a driving pro – ‘hidden’ steering wheel button heats your motor up fast without wasting petrol… it’s a money saver

A DRIVING expert has revealed how a ‘hidden’ button on the steering wheel can heat up your car faster – and save you money.

TikTok user Ashley Wiley recorded himself giving a tip to drivers heading out into their cars as temperatures begin to plummet.

It comes as Brits woke up to a cold snap over the weekend as temperatures plunged below zero in parts of the UK on Saturday night.

Ashley tells viewers: “Put your cuise control, idle it up to around 1,500RPM and then press ‘set cruise’ and it tricks it into thinking you’re going at speed.

“Typically cruise won’t come on until you’re at like 30mph in most vehicles.

“It thinks you’re doing 30mph so it will sit there at 1,500RPM and the coals in your truck will warm up faster, so you’re welcome.”

Meanwhile, Brits are braced for Storm Babet to batter the country with the Met Office warning of downpours as temperatures plummeted to -2C this week.

The wet and wintry weather is set to continue this week with heavy rain and strong winds on the cards.

Brits saw the mercury plunge and battled snow in Scotland yesterday with many experiencing bone-chilling sub-zero conditions overnight.

Temperatures fell to below freezing at -2.2C in the Scottish Highlands early this morning, while the coldest place in England was Charlwood in Surrey at -1.4C

Now, the Met Office has named Storm Babet as the second storm of the season.

It comes as a motors whizz shared their cheap 2p hack for de-icing a windscreen in just seconds.

And the RAC breakdown specialists have warned drivers of 10 signs to look out for that prove a car isn’t ready for the winter.
