Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang reveals special tribute to his late father on wedding day

Eddie Van Halen‘s son Wolfgang Van Halen has married his longtime partner Andraia Allsop in an intimate at-home ceremony.

The newlyweds, who have been dating for eight years, married in their living room in Los Angeles in front of 90 guests.

Wolfgang, 32, told PEOPLE they included a special nod to his late rocker father on their big day, with Wolfgang walking down the aisle to the song his father wrote for him.

“The song that my father had written for me, it’s an instrumental piece called 316,” he told the publication before walking down the aisle.

“It’ll be a nice way to include my dad.”

Photographer Andraia added that they had an empty chair at the ceremony in honour of Eddie.

“We’ve lost important family members on both sides, so it’s important to include them and have them be a part of the ceremony that we wish they were here for,” Wolfgang added.

Wolfgang’s mother Valerie Bertinelli said the late musician would be “so proud” of their son and “the man he’s becoming”.

In October 2020, Eddie Van Halen died after a long battle with cancer. He was 65.

Wolfgang tweeted at the time: “He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I’ve shared with him on and off stage was a gift. My heart is broken and I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover from this loss.”

He recently shared a tribute to his late father and spoke about his grief, writing: “No happy moment in my life goes by without a painful ache… I love you pop.”

Born in the Netherlands and raised in Pasadena, Eddie founded Van Halen with his older brother, drummer Alex; the siblings were joined by vocalist David Lee Roth and bassist Michael Anthony in the first recording lineup of the group, which exploded after star-making gigs at such West Hollywood clubs as Gazzarri’s and the Starwood.
