APPLE has made it much easier to edit your photos on iPhone.
Specifically, it’s now significantly easier to crop an image.

Previously, you’d need to go into the editing menu and select crop.
Then you’d need to fiddle around with the borders of the crop, choose your chosen edit, and then save it.
But that’s all changed in iOS 17, Apple‘s major iPhone update that rolled out in September.
This introduces a brand new way to crop your photos – although you might have missed it.
All you need to do is open a photo in your Photos app and then zoom in.
If zooming is new to you, just spread two fingers apart.
Now in iOS 17, a crop button will appear in the top-right corner.
Tap it and you’re done.
This is a much faster way to quickly get a zoomed-in version of an image – perfect if you don’t need all the extra detail.
The only downside is that if you fast-crop like this, you’ll be limited to the the aspect ratio of your iPhone screen.
So if you want a different aspect ratio, you’ll need to still manually tweak it using the regular crop “handles”.
Or you can long-press on the Crop button to choose a different aspect ratio, like “square”.
That’s not all
iOS 17 added a whole load of clever tricks for iPhone owners.
For instance, the new NameDrop feature lets you quickly share contact details with another iPhone owner.
As long as you both have iOS 17 installed, you can touch the top of the two devices together to begin a NameDrop.
Then you can swap contact details in seconds.
Another new feature is Live Voicemail, which shows you a transcription of a voicemail that someone is actively leaving.
This real-time feature means you can work out what a callers wants before picking up.
You can also answer the call while the message is being left, if you realise that it’s important.
And it’s not also possible to leave video voicemails.
So if you FaceTime someone and they don’t pick up, you’ll be able to create a Video Message.
This is basically a short video clip that the other person will see, letting them know that you tried to call but couldn’t get through.
