Brit Javid Basharat to face Victor Henry at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi as he continues assault on bantamweight elite

JAVID BASHARAT will continue his assault on the bantamweight top-15 at UFC 294 later this month.

Multiple sources have confirmed to SunSport that the Afghan-born Brit will lock horns with Victor Henry on the October 21 card in Abu Dhabi.

Basharat, the older of fellow UFC bantamweight Farid, has brushed aside all comers since being handed a contract by Dana White two years ago.

The former London Shootfighters standout – who now lives and trains in Las Vegas – has gone a perfect 3-0 in mixed martial arts‘ top promotion.

Basharat, 28, extended his perfect record to 14-0 in January with a decision victory over the then-unbeaten Mateus Mendonca.

His three wins on the trot have put him on the brink of mixing it with the bantamweight division’s elite.

The Snow Leopard’s current position is a stark contrast to where he was just over two years ago, when he and his brother were struggling to get fights on the regional scene.

He told SunSport earlier this year: “It’s been a tough route, to say the least.

“Fighting two top-level opposition for a debutant. But it’s been a great one.

“I’ve learned a lot about myself.

“I always knew I could fight at the highest level and those fights just confirmed it.

“And those fights just confirmed it, I didn’t feel like I was in any trouble in any of those fights.

“I’m confident in my skills and preparation even more so now after those fights.”

UFC 294 takes place at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on October 28.

The card will be headlined by a lightweight title rematch between champion Islam Makhachev and former titleholder Charles Oliveira.
