The European water attraction with heated pools, slides and thermal spas

FORGET Bath – there’s an even better water attraction with thermal spas and heated pools just a few hours from the UK.

Despite hot summer days in Europe slowly coming to an end, there are still several water attractions that can be visited all year round.

One of those places is Felsentherme, a little-known spa, in Bad Gastein in Austria.

Set amongst the Salzburg mountains, at an altitude of 100m, the spa is surrounded by natural rock walls and thermal waters.

The Austrian spa is divided into four different areas: Ruhetherme, Erlebnistherme, an outdoor thermal spa, and a sauna area.

Inside the Ruhetherme, which is also known as the relaxation zone, visitors will find an indoor swimming pool surrounded by natural rock walls.

Meanwhile, for those holidaymakers with younger guests, there’s Erlebnistherme – a section of the spa designed for families.

In this area, guests will find a huge 70m-long slide, a kid’s pool, and a magical grotto with a thermal waterfall.

Other features include two pools connected via a waterfall curtain, deck chairs, and a geyser.

Meanwhile, the outdoor thermal bath is home to a 25m sports pool, and a hot pool where temperatures run at 32C.

In the Sauna Area, guests can opt to sit in a sauna or choose a massage, all while overlooking the Gastein mountains.

Visitors can book to stay at the spa from €160 (£138.75) per person, which includes a two-night stay, two-day tickets to the spa, and one cocktail, or glass of juice, in the restaurant.

The Felsentherme receives good reviews on Tripadvisor with a 4/5 star rating from more than 450 reviews.

One person wrote: “I love this place, it’s so relaxing and clean. We spent two days here and took advantage of the six indoor pool areas.”

Another person added: “This is a wonderful place with a calm atmosphere and great sauna facilities.”

A third wrote: “After the slopes, this is the best option to relax.”

Felsentherme is 90-minutes away by either car, or train, from the Austrian city of Salzburg.

Both Ryanair and easyJet operate direct flights from London to Salzburg, with one-way tickets starting from £21.

Meanwhile, a huge new £250million water attraction is set to open in the UK with indoor beaches, swim-up bars, and swimming pools.

And, earlier this year, Callum Ryan, 22, challenged himself to fly to Budapest in Hungary and visit a thermal bath for less than a UK spa day.
