The East Lancashire Railway will once again host its Halloween ghost trains, due to popular demand.

Organisers are calling for visitors to don their best fancy dress before walking through the “ghoulishly decorated” Bury footbridge.

The bridge has been transformed into an “interactive thrilling experience”, complete with animatronic creeps and kooks.

After completing the crossing, the ‘ghostess with the mostess’ Bob the Zombie and Count Brian the Vampire will be on-hand to welcome guests aboard the ‘Scream Train’.

Customers will board at Bury Bolton Street station from where they will depart for more than an hour of Halloween fun on the tracks.

There will be music on board, while all children will get a goody bag full of tricks and treats.

Kids will be expected to help the Monster Squad keep order and vanquish the ghoulies during the journey.

Once the train ride has finished, families will be able to go to the Carn-Evil, hosted at the Bury Transport Museum, just across the road from Bolton Street Station.

Entry prices include unlimited theme park rides, a disco and a “spooktacular show”.

Mike Kelly, Chairman of East Lancashire Railway said: “We are frightfully excited for families from far and wide to attend the interactive experience.

“The event gets bigger and better every year – it’s not to be missed, you can’t beat this spooky experience aboard our atmospheric steam trains.

“This year we will have a competition for the best fancy dress, so dive into your fancy dress box, dust off the face painting skills and practise your loudest screams to blend in with all the creeps and critters!”

The Ghost Train will run from October 26-28, while guests are advised to arrive 30 minutes before departure.

Ticket prices start from £15.50 for children aged 3-17, £22 for adults and £22 for an adult and child under the age of 3 attending together.

Upon making a booking, guests can have the option to add a ticket for the Carn-Evil for a universal price of £9.50.

Meanwhile, this unique autumn train journey is also set to hit the rails this year.

And this train route offers front row seats to some of the UK’s most spectacular views.
