A FAMILY of American tourists have baffled Brits by sharing an itinerary for their visit to the UK that has since been described as “ridiculous” and “unrealistic” among other things.
Whether they have underestimated the size of their journey, or simply aim to do too much, the family appear to have bitten off more than they can chew, with some crazy sounding plans.

Included in that are a drive from Penrith to Cornwall for a one-night stay, as well as a trip to London from Polperro and back in the same day, while also trying to experience the best of the capital.
The mother of the family shared their proposed itinerary on Reddit, much to the disbelief of most Brits who read what they were hoping to do.
She wrote: “We are 4 Midwestern Americans, 50 something mom and dad, adult children 23M & 18F.
“Flying Delta into Newcastle airport, renting a Hyundai Tucson at the airport. The trip is during winter so weather could be an issue. This is my tentative itinerary:
“Saturday – arrival, drive to time share [in Penrith], shop for incidentals, rest.
“Sunday – drive around Lake District to get familiar driving on the opposite side of the road, seeing some sights but no strict agenda.”
After their day trip to the Lakes, the trip quickly became much less realistic, including an attempt to see two of Scotland‘s best cities in the same day and a day trip from Cornwall to visit Stonehenge.
The mum continued: “Monday – Drive to Scotland, attempt to visit Glasgow and Edinburgh…Maybe just Glasgow. Maybe take a train instead? What do you think?
“Tuesday/Wednesday – Husband and I are driving to Polperro Cornwall for hotel stay overnight. Train to Bodmin Parkway/Taxi to Polperro instead? Kids make their own plans.
“Thursday – Take a train to and from London. Got tickets for GoldenTours 1 Day hop on hop off bus tour. See what we can, try to make it to the most iconic stops.
“Friday – open. Rest if exhausted or try to see Stonehenge or a castle if ambitious.
“Saturday – Day of departure.
“What do you think of the itinerary? Enough? Not enough? Too much?”
Confused Brits responded, pointing out several flaws in the plan, mainly that the family were trying to do way too much.
One wrote: “The only thing you’re going to see with that itinerary is the inside of your hire car.
“Most egregious are the the drive to Cornwall from Penrith for one night, and the attempt to do most of the same journey on Friday as a day trip.”
Another said: “Absolutely ridiculous. I’m sorry but come on, Cornwall for one night? Then to London then back to Stonehenge (hint, look where Stonehenge is on a map…)”
The post was also shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, by user Kathryn, who described it as “the most UTTERLY UNHINGED travel itinerary I’ve ever seen”.
The mother took on board a lot of the feedback, but said she was still keen to try and do as much as she could on her visit.
She added: “Time will tell, the plan will work or it won’t.
“We’re going to stay flexible and try to maintain a sense of humor and sense of wonder.
“I’m looking forward to the adventure, hoping for the best but accepting of the reality it won’t go to plan and we’ll have to adjust.”
Meanwhile, this is one of the best hotels to go to in the UK.
And this undiscovered ‘fairytale’ seaside town has colourful houses and pony trekking.
