Malibu mayor accuses Kourtney Kardashian’s Poosh of lying about influencer event saying it was a ‘baby shower’

The mayor of Malibu has lashed out on social media, calling out Kourtney Kardashian‘s wellness company Poosh and event planners for ‘lying’ on a permit to use a mansion for a promotional event.

Bruce Silverstein called out the event planners and the property owner for conflicting ‘representations’ on permit applications of what the event actually was for, saying the owner called it a ‘baby shower’ while planners called it an ‘influencer event’.

He added that he couldn’t believe local government staff rushed to get the event approved quickly due to the links to celebrity, saying it’s ‘entirely unacceptable’.

Pictures on social media posted by Poosh say the event was the brand’s annual Poolside party.

“I understand that the event has been represented to be a baby shower that is being hosted by the owner of the property. Both of these representations are contrary to what the event planner told me – which was that the house is being ‘rented’ for an ‘influencer event,'” he wrote in one post.

“Obviously one story or the other is false.”

”It’s incredible and entirely unacceptable that the city staff, including the Chief Code Enforcement Officer, Planning Director, Interim City Attorney and possibly City Manager would join together to move heaven and earth to get this accomplished on no day’s advance notice for a wealthy celebrity when our residents are required to wait days, weeks and even months for such attention respecting matters of much greater concern than a celebrity party,” he wrote on Facebook.

He attached a snip of the alleged party permit application which said it was a ‘girlfriends day by the pool’. He said any promotional events needs to be certified by the city.

He later clarified: “I did not accuse Kourtney Kardashian of fraud or lying. I also did not state that the permit for the event, which I do believe to have been obtained on false pretenses, stated that the event was a baby shower.”

He also posted on Facebook a copy of an email he sent to the City, saying he was unsure if Kardashian was in attendance at the event, but that it was clear it was a promotional party for Poosh and ‘not a baby shower’ for the pregnant reality star.

“The event planner and property owner both lied in the permit application… as a resident, I demand that the city take appropriate legal action to address the fraud that was perpetrated by this company.”

He added: “I also request an internal investigation to ascertain whether anyone working for the city was complicit in this matter, as opposed to having been defrauded.'”

9Honey has contacted Poosh for comment in relation to this story.

Kardashian, 44, started her wellness brand Poosh in 2019. The mother-of-three is expecting her first child with rocker husband Travis Barker.
