South Yorkshire Police described the unit in in Sprotbrough, Doncaster, as a “chop shop”.

It is in these car stripping parlours where criminals break up stolen cars and motorbikes to sell on as parts – a hugely lucrative underworld business.

In other chop shop raids cops have found stolen motorbikes and quad bikes.

Professional car thieves now mainly use technology to override the vehicle’s own security system.

Some devices allow crooks to make off with a car in less than 90 seconds.

PC Yvonne Loveridge of the Doncaster North Neighbourhood Team said: “Car and vehicle theft has a huge impact on people and their livelihoods.

“This is a great find by the team which has led to the recovery of stolen vehicles and parts, and we are delighted to be able to reunite victims of these thefts with their stolen cars and motorbike.

“This is a crime we take very seriously, and we will work with other forces to continue locating these chop shops and disrupting their activities.

“I would urge anyone with information about crimes of this nature to contact us immediately.”

Enquiries are ongoing and detectives are investigating the nature and circumstances of this incident.
