Euphoria star Angus Cloud’s cause of death revealed two months after tragedy

The Alameda County Coroner has told People that the Euphoria star, who died on July 21, passed away due to acute intoxication following an accidental overdose.

His death came a week after he buried his father, who died of cancer, with his family saying at the time that he struggled with the loss.

His family announced the tragedy in a statement obtained by multiple media outlets at the time.

“Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss.

”The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend.

“Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.”

On July 14, Cloud shared a photo of his father to his official Instagram account alongside an edited caption: “miss u breh”.

“We hope the world remembers him for his humour, laughter and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss,” the statement concluded.

No cause of death was given at the time, though the actor’s family had confirmed he died at their home in Oakland in California.

Cloud rose to fame in 2019 thanks to his Euphoria role as Fezco, a drug dealer with a sweet nature who was close to Zendaya‘s character Rue.

Reflecting on his career in a magazine interview in March, Cloud, who was born in Oakland, California, said a casting agent discovered him on the streets of Brooklyn in New York City.

”I definitely thought it could be some kind of scam,” he laughed as he told iD

Cloud then said that when Euphoria – which has been nominated for 25 Emmys and has won nine – took off, he was surprised by his success.

“The difference between me and everyone else who’s famous it’s that they were trying to go get famous, for the most part,” he said in the interview.

“They were working hard, and they were like, ‘I’m going to make it to the top’. For me, it was just like too good of an opportunity to say no to. I had no idea it would go this far.”
