Fans do double take and think new Man Utd star has made instant shock transfer after watching Brighton’s Europa clash

SOME Manchester United supporters were doing a double take as they tuned in to watch Brighton’s European debut.

The Seagulls are facing AEK Athens tonight in the opening group game of the Europa Conference League.

However, while many of the opposition are hardly household names, one player in particular did cause a little confusion.

Former Watford ace Nordin Amrabat was in the starting XI for the visitors to The Amex.

The 36-year-old is, of course, the older brother of United’s deadline day signing Sofyan Amrabat.

And it took some a split second to realise after the teams were announced and the action got underway.

One tweeted: “Ooh didn’t know Amrabat plays in Athens now.”

While another wrote: “Man United might be in for a shock when they find out Amrabat is fit.”

Sofyan is still waiting to make his United debut having arrived at Old Trafford with a slight back issue.

Not only did he miss last night’s 4-3 defeat at Bayern Munich in the Champions League, he also watched last weekend as Brighton thumped United 3-1.

That led to another fan saying online: “Breaking: Manchester United player, Sofyan Amrabat has requested an immediate transfer to AEK Athens just to play against Brighton to see what he could’ve done last week.”

Fans are now anxiously awaiting to see whether the Moroccan international midfielder, 27, will be available to face Burnley on Monday and finally make his Premier League bow.
