Millions of Fitbit owners receive free upgrade TODAY as Google prepares to reveal brand new device

FITBIT users may notice something a bit different about the app next time they open it.

The Google-owned device has just rolled out a refresh to get more out of your fitness and health information.

New Fitbit app is available now

A new “simplified” design has been introduced, broken down into three tabs.

These are Today, Coach and You.

But beyond a lick of paint there are some background refinements too.

Among them is improved communication with your phone’s sensors and more accurate step counts.

So, you can now track a walk, run or hike without wearing your watch.

Instead, you can rely on the app alone on your iPhone or Android handset.

Google has also boosted the app’s customisation, so you can choose your focus based on personal goals

The Coach tab is where you’ll find workouts that you can filter by type, duration, equipment needed and even instructor.

Elsewhere, the charts of your progress display information about metrics and patterns so you can better understand how you’re getting on.

Privacy controls have also been improved, making it easier to review and manage all your data.

“No matter where you are on your health and wellness journey, the new Fitbit app is designed to help you reach your goals,” said Ajay Surie, Fitbit’s Group Product Manager.

“We are committed to continuously improving the Fitbit platform and app to work toward our goal to help make the world healthier.”

The update comes as Fitbit is expected to unveil a brand new Charge 6 device next week.

A cryptic promo simply says “coming” with the date marked as September 28.
