Horse racing tips: Templegate NAP looks perfect for the St Leger and pacemakers will set him up to win

TEMPLEGATE takes on a simply blockbuster Saturday of racing absolutely confident of finding you a whole host of winners.

Read on for our man’s tips and back a horse at the best price by clicking their odds below.

CONTINUOUS (3.35 Doncaster, nap)

He looked perfect for the Leger when storming away from Gregory to win the Great Voltigeur at York last time. He enjoyed sitting off the mad pace set by Frankie that day and used his stamina to the full. Trainer Aidan O’Brien runs a couple of likely pacemakers here so he’ll get another good gallop and can take another step forward.

ROSALLION (1.50 Doncaster, nb)

He should be too good for these rivals after an easy Listed win at Ascot last time. He pulled well clear of the second who franked the form at Haydock last week. This trip with some cut in the ground is ideal and he can improve on just his third run.

SPYCATCHER (3.00 Doncaster, treble)

He likes some cut in the ground and followed a Group 3 win in France with a close second at the highest level. He will have no issue with this slight step up in distance and looks the one to beat.

Templegate’s TV verdicts

DONCASTER

1.50

ROSALLION should be too good for these rivals after an easy Listed win at Ascot last time. He pulled well clear of the second who franked the form at Haydock last week.

This trip with some cut in the ground is ideal and he can improve on just his third run.

Iberian finished a neck ahead of Mountain Bear when they were second and third in the Group 2 Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.

The former was very green and finished off the race strongly so can confirm the form with the Aidan O’Brien runner who is another who should take a step forward here.

Power Mode has come up short in a couple of Group contests while Sunway was held in a Listed contest latest so needs a lot more.

2.25

MAKANAH ran an absolute cracker when fourth in a blanket finish for a hot handicap at York last time.

He is better drawn here and is effective at both 5f and 6f so will enjoy this in-between trip. This race could give an aspirin a headache but he should give a good account.

Kimngrace was a bit unlucky on the Knavesmire last time and has come down the weights. He likes this trip and goes on any ground so should run well.

Last year’s winner Call Me Ginger is looking for a hat-trick after winning at Chester and Ascot. His mark is only 2lb higher than 12 months ago so he can have a big say.

Aberama Gold can be forgiven one poor run after winning the Stewards’ Cup. The ground may have been too lively at York latest and he’ll be happier back in slower conditions.

Live In The Moment impressed at Goodwood over 6f and that staying power will be an asset with a 3lb rise looking fair.

Happy Romance is lightly raced this season and has a Listed win on his CV so could hit the frame.

Tees Spirit has a good claimer on board and is well weighted.

3.00

SPYCATCHER likes some cut in the ground and followed a Group 3 win in France with a close second at the highest level.

He will have no issue with this slight step up in distance and looks the one to beat.

Sandrine has loads of talent but can be hit and miss for no apparent reason. She was at her best in a first-time visor when third in the City Of York Stakes three weeks ago.

A repeat of that would give her a major chance but she can’t be relied on to follow up.

Audience was a place ahead of the Andrew Balding filly on the Knavesmire. His best efforts have come on fast ground which he’s unlikely to get today.

Ryan Moore stays on board Biggles who won the Bunbury Cup two runs ago before a disappointing effort in a big field at Ascot latest.

This ground suits but he’ll need a bit more upped in class.
Jumby didn’t fire at York latest but is a Group 2 winner at best. He is another who’s shown his best on quick ground.

Pogo has won in this grade but has been out of sorts this season.

3.35

CONTINUOUS looked perfect for the Leger when storming away from Gregory to win the Great Voltigeur at York last time.

He enjoyed sitting off the mad pace set by Frankie that day and used his stamina to the full.

Trainer Aidan O’Brien runs a couple of likely pacemakers here so he’ll get another good gallop and can take another step forward.

Dettori has switched to Arrest who was impressive when winning the Chester Vase in the mud before his Derby flop.

He got back on track at Newbury last time and doesn’t lack for stamina.

Gregory will benefit from going back up in trip and should get a more measured ride here which gives him place claims.

Middle Earth won the Melrose well and has been supplemented. This is tougher but he could nick a place.

The King and Queen have a good shout with Desert Hero who got the better of Chesspiece at Goodwood last time. He is no forlorn hope over a trip that should suit.

CHESTER

2.05

BLUESTOCKING hasn’t won this season but this hefty drop in class should do the trick.

She was a good third in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot before a cracking second in the Irish Oaks at The Curragh.

She more than matched that form in the Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks last time. The Ralph Beckett filly goes on any ground and should have too much quality.

Modaara can fill the forecast spot for Roger Varian. This Dubawi filly didn’t enjoy the rattling fast ground at Haydock and is better judged on her two easy all-weather wins.

She stays well and it’s early days so there should be improvement.

Al Qareem hasn’t run since Dubai this spring but was a Group 2 winner in France last season and is best with cut in the ground. He is entitled to need this but watch for a market move.

Alba Longa won a fair handicap in the mud here last month so should give a good account.

Empress Wu runs in the same colours and may improve for this longer trip.

2.40

BOX TO BOX has a good record at Chester with three wins and a second from just five visits.

He’s been running in better races than this at York where he was second to a horse that went on to take a Group 3.

He could have a better draw but it’s not critical over this trip and he has no issue with some give in the ground.

Hugo Palmer’s hope can go close from just 3lb above his last success.

Sweet Reward had five lengths in hand at Goodwood last time and is best at this distance. He has another 7lb to contend with but should handle the track and is a contender.

First Impression got the job done nicely over course and distance last time out. This ground suits and he’ll be in the mix again.

Southern Voyage is interesting on debut for Richard Fahey. He was last seen winning on the all-weather but may need this comeback after a year off.

Wisper went close in fair company at Sandown when trying to come from too far back and is another to note.
