Todd Boehly was NOT behind the big calls to sack Tuchel and Potter with Behdad Eghbali in ‘ultimate control’

TODD BOEHLY was not behind the big calls to sack Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter last season.

Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali is said to be the one in “ultimate control” at Stamford Bridge.

The duo have spent over £1billion on transfers in just three windows following last year’s £4.25bn takeover.

Chelsea are also on their fifth touchline manager in that time, having whizzed through Frank Lampard, Bruno Saltor, Potter and Tuchel.

Blues chairman Boehly is the face of the club and is assumed to have had the final say on the latter duo’s respective departures.

However, the Telegraph claims it’s Eghbali who ultimately calls the shots.

He is the joint-founder of private equity fund Clearlake Capital.

The investment company has funds worth an incredible £60bn under its control, and owns 65 per cent of the consortium heading Chelsea.

It means Eghbali is in “ultimate control” of the Londoners.

And he was reportedly behind the huge call to axe Tuchel a year ago, before pulling the plug on successor Potter months later.

Eghbali also spent time in London overseeing all of Chelsea’s transfer dealings this year.

Along with Boehly, he is the driving force behind the new policy to sign players under the age of 25.

Eghbali is also a big believer in long-term contracts to maximise market value.

And he takes no prisoners either, happily selling the likes of Mason Mount to avoid missing out on a transfer fee.
