A DRIVER who claims to have tested a hundred EVs has revealed what he hates most about them – including the “unnatural” silence.
Thomas Majchrzak from auto test specialists Autogefuehl took to the firm’s YouTube channel to run through all the good and the bad of the electric future.

The challenge of recharging was top of the listYoutube/autogefuehl
In his video, Thomas identified four key areas that he really dislikes when it comes to EVs.
First of these was the lack of available charging and general support infrastructure for the cars around his native Germany.
He said: “Recharging…sometimes is very complicated.
“It’s really really stressful.
“I tried to install a wall box [to charge] in the basement garage but some of the co-owners said that electric mobility is ‘the devil’s work’…it takes a lot of effort if you have co-owners.
“Infrastructure is the number one problem for electric mobility.”
That being said, it’s not the only problem and next Thomas addressed range anxiety.
He claimed that nobody would have bought a traditional car with the sort of range currently on offer from EVs, usually around 250 miles.
The motors whizz estimated that the range would need to increase to between 300 and 400 miles to allow longer trips and allow EVs to become popular and practical for everyone.
Third, he took issue with the sound of the car, or rather the lack of a sound.
He explained “With a combustion engine, especially with six or eight cylinders, it gives you this special gut feeling.
“The sound in the EVs, sometimes they are really artificial and futuristic and it’s really spaceship-like.”
Thomas suggested that manufacturers should let drivers choose to have traditional engine noise piped in so that they don’t “miss” the roar.
Finally, he slammed the “unnatural feeling” of EVs and found that he didn’t have a “connection” with electric models like he gets with the power curve of a combustion engine.
He added that EVs can feel “too perfect” and “too linear” compared to traditional cars.
However, he did point to some areas that he did like on electric cars.
These included the power that electric motors can generate, their efficiency and the sustainability aspect as he wants to do his bit for the environment.
It comes after one EV owner slammed his car as having too much wrong with it, including a hidden range-killer.
Meanwhile, a Tesla driver returned from holiday to a nightmare after an airport parking employee crashed the £40k luxury EV into a pond.
