Mystery as WWE Hall of Famer is ‘AXED from roster then swiftly reintroduced in new role’ amid AEW links

MYSTERY still surrounds the future of WWE legend Edge’s future after he was removed from their internal roster.

The 49-year-old, real name Adam Copeland, retired due to a neck injury back in 2011 but he made a blockbuster return at the Royal Rumble in 2020.

Since then he has worked on a part-time basis and enjoyed feuds with the likes of Randy Orton, Roman Reigns and Finn Balor since.

However, he announced last month that his contract with WWE was ending before he defeated Sheamus on SmackDown in the final bout of his deal.

Links instantly began to circulate that he could be heading to rival promotion All Elite Wrestling, where his former WWE tag team partner and best friend Christian now works.

Now further confusion has been added to the situation after Edge was removed from the WWE internal roster on the company’s website.

He is no longer listed internally on either the Raw or Smackdown roster but PWInsider claims that they have been told that he has since been added back, but not as an active TV performer.

He is now on what is known as a “miscellaneous” talent list.

That includes a host of names that are signed for WWE but not working actively on either TV series.

The performers included alongside him include the likes of The Undertaker, ‘Stone Cole’ Steve Austin, Big E, Titus O’Neill and Braun Strowman.

They are all talents who are still connected to WWE but are currently not actively performing or who are sidelined through injury.

Meanwhile, Edge did recently take on X to deny rumours of any ill-feeling between him and WWE and says he has a new contract offer on the table.

However, the former WWE champion says he is still unsure what to do as he also failed to squash talk of a switch to AEW.

Edge said: “There’s nothing going on.

“There’s no hard feelings between me and WWE. I love WWE, it’s my dream gig. It’s all I ever wanted to do.

“I didn’t come at them with some crazy contract or anything, they didn’t deny me.

“I have a contract extension sitting in my inbox, I just don’t know what to do.”
