‘Out of nowhere’: Tori Kelly speaks months after blood clot health scare

Tori Kelly has opened up about her health months after she was hospitalised with blood clots.

In July, the American singer collapsed in an LA restaurant and was reportedly found to have “life-threatening blood clots” in her legs and near her lungs while in ICU.

Now, the 30-year-old has opened up about the experience for the first time, addressing it during a show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City on Monday.

“I’m so, so grateful to be here and be back,” Kelly told fans from the stage, per PEOPLE.

“It was a crazy, crazy experience.”

The Missin u singer – who kicked off her Take Control Tour this week – spoke about feeling supported throughout the ordeal.

“If there’s one thing that I knew and that I held on to the whole time is that God was with me — and y’all were with me,” she said. “I felt the love.”

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight prior to hitting the stage, the musician recalled the night of the medical emergency.

“It happened out of nowhere. I was feeling just a little tired throughout the day, and my heart rate was kind of high,” she said.

“I was at dinner with my husband [André Murillo] and so thankful he was there because I ended up collapsing and was rushed to the hospital and they found blood clots.”

Kelly is still unaware of how the blood clots came to be, considering she has no family history of clots.

“On one end, it was scary, and then on another end, I did feel this sense of unexplainable peace that it was gonna be OK,” she said.

“I just felt like God had me and it was gonna be OK, but yeah, definitely in the midst of that it was just kind of a confusing whirlwind.”

Since being cleared by doctors, the singer has been getting better and has jumped back into performing, kicking off her tour in Toronto on September 10.

She’ll continue through the U.S. until her final shows which will take place in Los Angeles on September 25 and 26.
