Four things I always order through Primark’s click and collect – and why I avoid jeans

PRIMARK is known for drawing in shoppers with bargain clothing – and fans have even more ways to bag a deal with click and collect.

The retailer has announced it is expanding its click and collect service to include thousands of womenswear items from Wednesday.

Lisa Talbot has shared what you should buy and avoid on Primark’s click and collect

The latest move will be rolled out across 57 stores in Greater London and the North West of England and North Wales.

But with even more choice at shoppers’ fingertips, it’s even more important to make sure that what you’re buying is worth the money.

Luckily, shopping expert and award-winning personal stylist Lisa Talbot knows exactly what you should be ordering from Primark.

We picked her brain to find out what items you should always consider getting through click and collect, and why she avoid knitwear.

Base layers

Primark fans have been raving for years over its selection of bargain clothing basics.

Most stores have a wide range of different items available and shoppers are forever talking about the great quality and low cost.

And Lisa also agrees that these are some of the best items you can buy in store.

She told The Sun: “Long sleeve tee’s that are great as a layering garment, they are always a good fit, stay true to their shape & there is always a great selection of colours.”

You can pick up long-sleeved t-shirts and vest tops from around £2 at Primark.

Leisurewear

It might not be your first port of call, but you can pick up some loungewear in Primark.

In most cases, you should be able to choose from a variety of sizes and choices too.

Lisa said:” A real favourite with those who want to look great and feel comfortable too, great for wearing at home or for coffee with friends.

“The colour selection is always superb together with good size ranges.”

You can pick up a pair of drawstring elasticated joggers from just £4, and the price of a hoodie starts at around £5.

Coats

Bargain hunters are often sent into a frenzy by Primark’s cheap and stylish coats.

There are options for every occasion and have proven extremely popular, and Lisa says she can understand why.

“Primark coats are great, from quilted to wool, they will never let you down,” she added.

“Already this season I am seeing a great selection of coats that will elevate your wardrobe.”

Primark have even been known to sell dupes of designer brands.

Last year, shoppers rushed to buy a £38 version of a popular, £290 North Face coat.

Accessories

Keep an eye out for accessory items too.

Lisa said: “From scarves to hats, to jewellery to bags I would never hesitate that these items always come up trumps.”

Primark is currently selling an oversized brushed tassel scarf for £7, while matching kids hat, glove and scarf sets start at just £6.

Items to avoid

While shoppers are often spoiled for at Primark, not everything is worth your money.

Lisa said that the retailer’s knitwear isn’t the most durable and she tends to avoid it.

She said: “In some cases the fabric used for the knitwear is not dense enough andI find they lose their shape too quickly at the hem.”

Ordering through click and collect means that you don’t have the chance to try items on before buying them.

This means you need to be extra savvy about what you buy, and for that reason, it’s best to avoid denim.

Lisa said: “Unless you have bought Primark jeans before, I would not recommend these as a click and collect item.

“Jeans are so specific and one of the hardest garments to get the perfect fit, so always best to try on.”

For a similar reason, Lisa says it’s best to avoid lingerie.

While prices start from as little as £1.50, Lisa said it’s always best to try these items on first.

She said: “Sizes do vary across each garment, especially bras. In some instances I feel the fabric can be a little harsh.”

Of course, whether you want to spend on something will depend on your personal taste so it’s always worth checking it out before you opt not to buy.
