The 11 Aldi dupes that could save you 45% this festive season – from alcohol to chocolate

THE closer we get to Christmas, the more we’re splashing out on all the festive treats which can cost a pretty penny.

It’s good news for Aldi shoppers though as the discounter sells a whole load of cost-cutting dupes of all the big brand items you love.

We’ve rounded up some of Aldi’s best dupes

Aldi is famous for creating dupes of popular products and selling them at bargain prices.

From perfume to gin, the discount supermarket has made its own versions of practically everything you can think of.

You can save cash this festive season by swapping out some of your classic branded choices for the Aldi version.

We’ve had a look at booze, chocolate, snacks, and Christmas dinner staples.

We then compared them to a range of supermarket prices and worked out the difference.

Some of the savings are bigger than others of course but every little helps.

It’s always worth bearing in mind that prices can vary from day to day based on offers available that week.

All prices are correct at the time of writing.

Baileys

First up is everyone’s favourite cream liqueur.

Baileys is a festive season essential for most households and at £20 for a litre, it can end up costing a lot.

Luckily, Aldi sells its own version called Ballycastle and a 70cl bottle (12% alcohol by volume) costs just £4.49.

When compared to Sainsbury’s price for a same-size bottle of Baileys (£10 and 17% ABV), it’s a pretty hefty saving of £5.51.

Chocolate Christmas decorations

Next up are Cadbury’s chocolate Christmas tree decorations.

These can cost as much as £3 at some supermarkets, so if you’ve got a big tree or kids wanting a treat, you could be forking out a lot.

But, at Aldi, you can pick up 100g of its Dairyfine Milk Chocolate Santa Christmas Tree Decorations for just 99p.

Whereas if you were to buy Cadbury’s branded ones from Lidl just 72g costs £1.49.

So, by shopping at Aldi you’d be saving 50p and gaining an extra 28g of chocs.

Cranberry sauce

No Christmas dinner is complete without some cranberry sauce.

Those looking to make a saving can head to Aldi to pick up Bramwells’ Whole Cranberry Sauce.

You can grab a 200g jar for just 55p.

That’s 95p less and 35g more than the Colman’s cranberry sauce which is being sold at Sainsbury’s for £1.50 for 165g.

Disaronno

A 50cl bottle of Bellucci Velvet Amaretto (15% ABV) will cost you just £5.49 from the discount supermarket.

Meanwhile, a branded bottle of the same size (17% ABV) cost £11.99 at Morrisons.

That’s a whopping saving of £6.50.

The perfect addition to any Christmas Eve feast – crackers and cheese.

Aldi is selling this large 500g selection of Savour Bakes Biscuits For Cheese at £2.49 at the moment.

When you compare it to Tesco’s £3.50 box of Jacobs Biscuits For Cheese (450g) that’s £1.01 and 50g difference.

Not a bad saving at all.

Guylian chocolates

They’re a dupe for the classic bag of Doritos, which cost £1.50 for 180g from Asda currently.

So, you’d be saving 25p and gaining 20g – not too shabby.

Cream

AldiThe perfect coupling for your Christmas pud[/caption]

If you’re looking to be a little indulgent, alcohol infused cream could be the way to go.

Brandy cream is a classic accompaniment to any Christmas pudding but in recent years Baileys has come out with its own.

The liqueur brand makes two flavours of extra thick cream – Salted Caramel and original.

At Tesco, a 250ml tub of the salted caramel cream costs £2.75.

But, if you were looking to save your coins you could buy Aldi’s own version: Ballycastle Chocolate And Clementine Flavour Extra Thick Cream.

A 250ml tub costs £1.99, which is a 76p saving.

Gin

AldiNothing says Christmas like a G&T[/caption]

You can pick up this Greyson’s London Dry Gin (37.5% ABV) 70cl bottle from Aldi for just £10.49.

When compared to the branded same size bottle of Gordons at Tesco (£16 and 38% ABV), this is a £5.51 saving.

Coca-Cola is a key component to many people’s holiday season, whether it’s for your kids or as a mixer.

At Aldi, you can pick up this 2L bottle of Diet Cola for just 47p.

Whereas at shops like Iceland, a branded bottle this size would cost you £2.50.

So by making the Aldi swap you’d be looking at a £2.03 saving.
