I won £2million National Lottery jackpot but here’s why I kept working – I just don’t want a fast car or speedboat

A LUCKY man who won £2million National Lottery jackpot has revealed why he kept working despite scooping the prize.

Mike Law, from Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, turned up to work for months despite bagging the huge win.

The dedicated arts and photography teacher decided to continue his classes at the secondary school until a few weeks ago.

Loyal Mike, 52, revealed he couldn’t ditch the classroom as he wanted to make sure his pupils finished their GCSEs earlier this year.

He said: “How many people have wanted to change careers but found themselves in a rut and unable to take a leap of faith?”

Although the dad-of-two has now become a millionaire, he won’t spend the cash on lavish items.

Mr Law said: “To me, winning the National Lottery isn’t about fast cars and speed boats, it’s about opportunity and making memories.”

Mike and wife Andrea, 45, scooped the life-changing prize on Lotto Lucky Dip in October 2021.

The stunned couple discovered their incredible win after checking their lottery numbers online.

Mike thought it was a scam before a spokesperson from the agency confirmed they had won an eye-watering £2million.

He said: “I have been given this chance and I’m very lucky to be able to have a go at making a long-standing passion, my job.

“Having been through a tough few years, like many, and losing close family members just before the win, including my Mum.

“I realised life is very short and I had been given an unexpected opportunity.”

Mike has finally decided to clear his desk after more than two decades of working in the education sector.

He plans to splash the money on writing and publishing a book about the medieval Anglo-Saxon burial site, Sutton Hoo.

But the passionate worker admitted he will miss teaching as it’s still “part” of him.

The lucky couple said their lives remained the same – even after matching the six lucky numbers.

Mrs Law explained: “We are very much the same, normal family. We no longer have the worry of a mortgage, which is a huge relief, but we want to remain grounded.

“Yes, we have had a few treats, we’ve been on a trip to Lapland, a dream of mine since we had the boys, but not a great deal more.”

It comes after another woman who won £10k-a-month for 30 years said she bought the winning ticket after seeing a lucky sign.

Doris Stanbridge from Dorking scooped the whopping jackpot on The National Lottery‘s Set For Life game.
