The City Ground faithful were wondering if the club would be able to replace the Wales ace before last night’s 11pm deadline.

But the Forest brass answered their prayers and then some by signing not one, not two, but THREE new players before the transfer window closed.

Ibrahim Sangare, Andrew Omobamidele and Divock Origi all joined the Tricky Trees from PSV Eindhoven, Norwich City and AC Milan respectively.

Sangare and Omobamidele have penned permanent contracts, with former Liverpool star and Champions League winner Origi has inked a loan deal.

On the signing of defender Omobamidele, Wilson said: “Andrew has attracted considerable attention since his emergence at Norwich City.

“Already experiencing Premier League, Championship and international football.

“He is one of the most exciting young defenders in the country at this time and we are delighted to welcome him to the club.”

Wilson said of the acquisition of Origi: “Divock returns to the Premier League to further add strength to our squad.

“We wanted to bolster our attacking options and Divock certainly helps us to do that.

“We look forward to welcoming him to our home on Trentside.”

Forest’s tripe deadline-day swoop was preceded by the signing of Greek goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos from Benfica.

Wilson said of Vlachodimos’ arrival: “We are pleased to welcome Odysseas to Nottingham Forest.

“He is very talented and brings an abundance of experience with him, and he will add real competition to our goalkeeping department.”

Forest will be back in action this afternoon, travelling to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea.
