Tottenham ‘agree £47.5m transfer fee for Ange Postecoglou’s No1 target’ in major deadline day boost

BRENNAN JOHNSON is closing in on a deadline day transfer after Tottenham reportedly reached an agreement over his price.

Nottingham Forest had been demanding £50million for the Welsh forward.

However, Spurs have now agreed a fee of £47.5m fixed.

The Athletic report the 22-year-old will sign a five-year contract with the option of an additional year.

They add that Johnson is currently travelling to London for his medical, while Forest will also retain a ten per cent sell-on clause in the deal.

Johnson has played in all three Premier League games for Steve Cooper‘s side this season.

Despite failing to find the back of the net so far this term – with a glaring miss against Arsenal coming to mind – Johnson scored eight league goals and added three assists last season.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is said to have earmarked Johnson as his number one target following the departure of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich.

Johnson’s exit will pave the way for Forest to complete a deal for Ibrahim Sangare.

PSV had rejected an initial bid of £29m plus add-ons for his sale.

However, Forest have since moved to meet the Dutch club’s demands and match the 25-year-old’s £35m release clause.

Forest have already completed a deadline day loan transfer for Arsenal outcast Nuno Tavares.

Meanwhile, Spurs are still trying to bolster their midfield, with a £40m move for Chelsea star Conor Gallagher reportedly on the cards.
