Arsenal ‘considering RIPPING UP £72m transfer Nicolas Pepe’s contract as Gunners struggle to find deadline day suitor’

ARSENAL are reportedly ready to tear up Nicolas Pepe’s contract as they struggle to find a buyer before the transfer window shuts.

The Gunners signed Pepe for a whopping £72million back in 2019, but the Ivorian has failed to live up to his astronomical price tag.

And according to the Mail Online, Arsenal are now considering terminating his contract in order to get him off the books.

Mikel Arteta is said to be “desperate” to get rid of Pepe, but Arsenal have been unable to find a potential suitor this summer.

The 28-year-old spent last season on loan with French outfit Nice where he made 28 appearances scoring eight goals and registering one assist.

But despite having a strong season with the club, Nice turned down the opportunity to sign the winger.

Pepe has just one year remaining on his deal at the Emirates Stadium and will be available as a free agent next summer.

The former Lille star didn’t take part in Arsenal’s pre-season tour and has been training alone at the club’s London Colney training ground.

Arsenal have had a busy summer in terms of incoming transfers, but will be hoping they can rebalance their squad with outgoings before the deadline closes.

The North London side have seen big name arrivals in the form of Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and David Raya.

Rob Holding and Albert Sambi Lokonga are reportedly in talks over deadline day exits from the club.

Whilst Kieran Tierney and Nuno Tavares have both made loan switches to Real Sociedad and Nottingham Forest respectively.
