United have agreed personal terms with the player to sign on a season long loan with a view to making the move permanent.

Amrabat of Fiorentina had been touted as a signing for the Red Devils all summer.

Nottingham Forest are understood to have made a late bid for the player as have Fulham and Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli.

But the player has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford and has even forced through the move by making himself unavailable for selection at his Serie A club where has also been training separately from the rest of the squad.

Mason Mount’s injury has played a part in United’s last dash to try and sign Amrabat as a reinforcement.

They are also still fighting to get a left-back on loan with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia injured.

United have struck a shock deal to take Sergio Reguilon on loan from rivals Tottenham.

But their defensive problems do not end at full-back with Raphael Varane sidelined for at least a month.
