Paris Jackson receives ‘death threats’ for not posting about dad Michael Jackson’s birthday

Paris Jackson has hit back at critics who have slammed her for not posting about her late father Michael Jackson’s birthday on social media.

The singer, 25, shared a video on Instagram on Wednesday and said she had shockingly received ‘death threats’ for not publicly acknowledging online what would have been his 65th birthday on August 29.

Paris, who is the only daughter of Jackson and Debbie Rowe, hit back by including a clip of herself acknowledging her father’s birthday while performing on stage this week.

“I owe everything to him,” she said while on stage to cheers from the audience.

In her video hitting back at critics, she said her father never liked celebrating his birthday when he was alive. The artist died in June 2009.

“It’s my dad’s birthday, and back when he was alive he used to hate anyone acknowledging or celebrating his birthday,” Paris began.

“He didn’t actually want us to know when his birthday was as he didn’t want us throwing a party or anything like that.”

“That being said, social media is apparently how people express their love and affection these days and if you don’t wish them a happy birthday via social media it means you don’t love them or care about them,” she said.

Talking about his hardcore fans, she said: “There have been times where I don’t post anything for my dad’s birthday and they lose their f–king minds.”

“They tell me to kill myself and they’re measuring my love for my own father based off what I post on Instagram.”

She then told his fans to ‘do something he would have loved’ like contribute to climate change activism and stand up for animal rights.

“I’m sure he would have loved that,” she finished.

She captioned her clip: “Please don’t use a man you have never met as an excuse to abuse, manipulate, and harass his daughter (who you also have never met). LOVE.”

Michael Jackson, known for hits including Smooth Criminal and Beat It, died in 2009 from cardiac arrest.

Since his death, his eldest son Prince, 26, has taken it upon himself to ensure he and his siblings remain close. He was also father to Bigi, 21.

“When we were growing up, my father would say, ‘We could have nothing, but you look around in this room, your brother, your sister, and me, that’s all you’ll ever have,'” Prince told Good Morning Britain.

“That’s kind of all I knew.”
