I’m a Tesla owner and I hate it – simple maintenance job is a nightmare and feature puts me in danger

A TESLA owner has revealed that she hates her EV as a simple maintenance job is a nightmare and one feature could even be dangerous.

Lifestyle influencer Erin Robinson took to TikTok to share why owning the trendy electric car isn’t all she hoped it would be.

One issue concerned the specialist tyres that come with the carTiktok – @erinrobinson

In her second video of a series criticising different aspects of her Tesla, Erin took issue with the specialist tyres that come with the motor.

She said: “Tesla has these special run-flat tyres that have to be ordered if you were ever to get a flat tyre.

“The reason why I know this is that I got two flat tyres at the same time.

“I got them in the middle of nowhere…and there wasn’t a single tyre place in the vicinity that had these tyres or could get them in.”

Fortunately, she was within 50 miles of a Tesla repair centre, meaning that the manufacturer will send someone out to tow the car and get it repaired.

However, she added that even finding someone with the specialist equipment needed to tow a Tesla was a “challenge”.

Moreover, Erin made a separate video on one of the car’s futuristic features that she believes could actually be dangerous.

This is the fact that the car has no key and is, instead, opened from the Tesla app.

While some might consider that a cool perk, Erin took a clip of herself struggling to open the car despite the app working as it should.

She fumed: “So [if] somebody’s chasing me to my car, which has happened many times in Los Angeles… I’ve got to figure out ‘oh my gosh, let me restart the app’.

“Do I have the stupid key card that also doesn’t work on my car?”

Erin was so concerned by this that she had to pay £200 for a physical key fob just to address the problem.

Social media commenters rushed to her support.

One wrote: “I got a flat tyre and called ‘roadside assistance’ who then quoted me 24-36 hours to come and change my tire.

“They definitely need to hire more help.”

Another added: “I had mine 9 months and sold it. I will never own another Tesla”

It comes after an expert mechanic revealed a little-known car button that could save you big on repair bills.

Meanwhile, an EV driver said the price of her car was slashed in half after she bought it due to the ULEZ expansion.
