Tierney, 26, was desperate to play more minutes this season after spending most of the last campaign as a sub.

Newcastle were strongly linked with a bid before they went for Chelsea youngster Lewis Hall.

And Tierney is now looking to find some form in Spain after joining Sociedad, with SunSport Scotland exclusively revealing the switch this week.

They finished fourth in LaLiga last term, meaning Tierney will be playing Champions League football.

Managed by Sociedad icon Imanol Alguacil, the attacking side boast Spain internationals Mikel Merino and Mikel Oyarzabal amongst their ranks.

Sociedad have also landed Portugal striker Andre Silva from RB Leipzig.

But they seemed particularly pleased to capture Tierney, announcing the Scot with an exciting rocket-themed video.

The clip also combined some of Tierney’s best moments at Arsenal.

And Gunners fans appeared sad to see him go.

One said: “He is one genuinely good player. All the best Tierney.”

Another declared: “Take care of him.”

One noted: “Deserves to start regularly. Good luck warrior.”

Another added: “All the best KT, hope you have a nice time there.”

Tierney joined Arsenal in 2019 from Celtic for £25million.

He has since gone on to play 124 times, scoring five goals in the process and winning the FA Cup in his first season

At Celtic, Tierney netted eight times in 170 games while winning four titles and the 2018 Treble.
