The loss comes after Erik ten Hag’s side were beaten 2-0 by Tottenham at the weekend.
He will be hoping his players bounce back at home to Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Saturday.
It is understood that Evans and five other members of the first-team started the defeat to newly-promoted Burnley.
Hannibal Mejbri, Scott McTominay, Facundo Pellistri, Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek are all said to have started.
United fans have been left concerned by the result, with one tweeting: “It’s over, end the season now.”
Another added: “We are finished.”
A third supporter also commented: “It’s gonna be a long season man.”
Premier League winner Evans returned to the Red Devils on a short-term contract this summer.

It is understood he is close to agreeing a longer deal with the club after travelling with the squad for their pre-season tour of the USA.
However, he has yet to be registered for the new season, preventing him from appearing in their first two matchday squads.
Youngsters Hannibal and Pellistri are both expected to be loaned out this summer, with the latter close to joining Sheffield United.
Meanwhile, United are open to offers for McTominay and Martial before the window closes.

McTominay has already been the subject of interest from West Ham, who had a bid rejected as part of a double swoop involving Harry Maguire.
Dutch midfielder Van de Beek could also leave and has been put for sale by United.
The 26-year-old has not been named on the bench for either of their league matches this term after recovering from a serious knee injury.
