Man City make £50m Matheus Nunes transfer bid with Guardiola also keeping tabs on Crystal Palace star

MANCHESTER CITY have made a £50million bid for Wolves star Matheus Nunes.

City boss Pep Guardiola wants to sign the 24-year-old Portuguese midfielder following the collapse of an £85m swoop for West Ham’s Brazilian playmaker Lucas Paqueta.

But Wolves value Nunes at £70m and are determined to hang on to him.

Guardiola labelled Nunes “one of the best players in the world” after City’s 5-0 Champions League win over Sporting Lisbon 18 months ago.

Wolves then signed him from Sporting in a £42.2m deal last summer.

And Man City’s bid to land Paqueta broke down last week after the player was at the centre of an FA probe into suspicious bets placed on the Brazilian to receive a yellow card in various Premier League matches.

City are also keeping tabs on Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze but the attacking midfielder is also rated at £70m by the Selhurst Park club.

Meanwhile, Bernardo Silva has committed his future to the Treble winners after signing a new contract until 2026.

The Portugal star said: “I’ve had six incredible years at City and I’m delighted to extend my time here.

“It has been a dream in terms of what we have achieved, the prospects of what we can still do.

“In six years, we have won five Premier Leagues, one Champions League and all of the cups.

“I couldn’t have it much better.

“Four titles in a row has never been done in the Premier League before, so we want to try that because it is so tough.”
