I fell for a faulty petrol pump – the cost went up even after I pulled the nozzle out… drivers MUST be aware

A WOMAN has warned drivers to watch out after she fell for a faulty petrol pump that cost her a fortune.

Highlighting the issue on TikTok, she claimed that the price of the sale kept ticking up even after she took the pump out of the car.

The video shows the young woman and her dad looking on in disbelief as the monitor on the pump keeps increasing the price due.

Her dad is standing about a foot away from the car and has the nozzle raised in the air with no petrol coming out and his finger off the trigger.

The screen showed that they owed USD$91 before shooting up to nearly $92.

She captioned the post: “Took the pump out of the car and the numbers were still going up.

“It takes 65 bucks to fill up this car.

“The manager and gas attendant are refusing to give us a refund”

She also slammed the pump as a “scam” and said staff at the California petrol station had been unhelpful.

In a later video, this distraught driver explained: “We went inside and said ‘hey can we get a refund for this?’

“[The till operator] was basically saying that there was nothing that she could do and that her manager would take care of it in the morning.

“They’re putting up an out-of-order sign.

“The cops also said they couldn’t do anything about it.”

Social media commenters were quick to take her side.

One wrote: “The moment your finger is off the gas trigger, it is supposed to stop automatically.

“There is no gas pumping, so the payment should stop.”

Another added: “Had the same happen to me.

“And they still charged me for gas I didn’t get.”

It comes after drivers were warned about new AI cameras after 300 motorists were caught out in just three days.
