TROY DEENEY has been offered a shock EFL return – with the club’s owner “super excited” about their latest transfer announcement.
The former Premier League star was one of 13 players to be released by Championship side Birmingham City this summer.

The 35-year-old lifelong Blues fan and SunSport columnist signed from Watford two years ago.
And he went on to score 11 goals in 54 appearances for his boyhood heroes.
Prior to Deeney’s arrival at Birmingham, he spent 11 years at Watford.
He became a club legend at Vicarage Road as he scored 140 goals in 419 games for the club.
Deeney enjoyed promotion twice with the Hornets and scored one of the most memorable goals in Championship history with his famous playoff semi-final goal against Leicester in 2013.
Now it seems that another team is hoping that the frontman will help fire them to success as they look to rebuild following a relegation last term.
Reports have been mounting that Forest Green Rovers are looking to pull off a major transfer coup and snap up the experienced Deeney on a free.
And their chairman Dale Vincent added to that excitement last night by tweeting: “Big signings for FGR announced tomorrow, a player and a coach.

“I’m super excited, will be a big boost, not just this season but for many to come……”
Duncan Ferguson was appointed manager of Forest Green last season but the Everton icon was unable to prevent them from dropping out of League One.
David Horseman was recently named as their new boss after the Scotsman abruptly departed ahead of the new campaign, and he has collected three points out of a possible nine so far in League Two.
