Castle Combe in Wiltshire has been included near the top of plenty of lists of the most picturesque places to visit in the country, including in Country Living.

The magazine said: “This quintessentially English village is known as the ‘prettiest village in England‘ – and we can see why.

“It’s a Wiltshire gem worth exploring.”

They aren’t the only ones praising it either, with Tiktoker(@kelseyinlondon) and Travel Blogger Kelsey also very impressed with her visit to the village.

She shared a video asking her followers: “Have you been to England’s prettiest village?”

Her followers were amazed, saying it’s how all of England should look.

One wrote: “I wish all of England was built in a similar ways. It’s a shame we lost our olden architecture.”

Another said: “This is stunning, I HAVE to visit.”

A third added: “Wish all of England was like this.”

Plenty of Kelsey’s followers pointed out that Castle Combe has been used as a filming location for several films.

They include Steven Spielberg‘s War Horse, as well as Stardust and the original 1967 Doctor Dolittle.

One of the other stand out attractions in the town is the Castle Combe circuit, a racing track where people are permitted to bring their cars and motorbikes to have a go.

The circuit’s website states: “If your car’s got 4 wheels, is to MOT standard and meets our noise restrictions you’ll be made very welcome at one of our Car Track Days.”

Bike track days are also an option for motorcyclists.

The circuit has an overall score of 4.5/5 with one five star review reading: “Amazing track day experience! Definitely recommend.”

As well as the racing circuit, Kelsey had a lot of recommendations for things to do in the village.

Among them were a roast lunch and a pint at The Castle Inn⁣⁣⁣ pub, high tea at The Old Rectory Tearoom ⁣⁣⁣and a visit to the Manor House Golf Club⁣⁣⁣.

Another thing that Castle Combe is known for is its honesty stalls, which The Travel describe as “a reflection of the old times”.

People sell various items from their own front doors, with customers simply required to post money through their letter boxes.

The Travel said: “Honesty stalls can be found outside most of the houses. From plants, flowers, books, eggs, and other food items, the entire transaction of getting an item and paying for it is based on trust and honesty.

“Visitors take the desired things and leave the money in the letterbox outside the house.

“From ice cream tubs to pouches of lavender, the little stalls have a lot of cute things to offer which can be bought. It is simplicity at its best.”

A night in the village can be booked from around £32.50pp.

However, caravan pitches near to the village can be found from £30 per night.

Meanwhile, this Wiltshire village only opens to tourists once a year.

And a “ghost town” turned into a “boom town” is attracting people from miles away.
