The Gunners start slowly as Nottingham Forest were the first to go close but Brennan Johnson spurned his one-on-one chance.

And the visitors were made to pay as Eddie Nketiah fired past former team-mate Matt Turner in the 26th minute.

The goal got Arsenal in the groove as Bukayo Saka then opened his account for the season with a brilliant effort seven minutes later.

There was a blow for the hosts as summer signing Jurrien Timber was forced off with an injury in the second half.

To make matters worse for the Gunners, Taiwo Awoniyi’s smart finish in the 82nd minute got Forest back into the game.

However, Arsenal were able to hold out to start the season with a big three points.
