THE Edinburgh Christmas Markets have come under fire from punters over “rip off” prices.
The popular festive attraction returned to the capital this year but some punters have been left feeling a little less festive than they’d hoped.

Many have accused the event of being overpriced and some claimed it had been made smaller than it was in previous years.
The prices at the market were laid bare in a TikTok video by user abbiewilson.
Abbie and a man visited the markets and revealed what the pair paid for everything while they were there.
She titled her video “How much we spent at the Edinburgh Christmas Markets.”
The first thing they bought was two ‘chip sticks’, a potato twisted around a skewer, which cost them £14.
They then bought tea and coffee, which was a total of £6.
They grabbed a bite to eat, having some currywurst and chips, which cost £8.
The pair then went for a ride on the ferris wheel – which saw them fork out £22.50.
And finally, they paid £15 for two of the mini pancakes.
By the end of their trip, they had spent a total of £65.60.
When someone in the comments mentioned the cost of the chip sticks, Abbie replied: “I know, I was gobsmacked.”
And mentioning how busy the markets have been, she captioned her post: “All whilst being packed in like sardines.”
Her video has since been liked over 35,000 times.
But it appeared they were not the only ones to take issue with this year’s prices.
Other people who visited took to Twitter after their visit to hit out at the cost and the size of the market.
One person wrote: “Yep, total rip off. £7 for a Glühwein at most stalls at the Edinburgh Christmas Market.
“Did manage to find one place selling Glühwein for £6 a cup. Also £6.50 for a half pint of lager..! Won’t be back again this year. Crazy!”
A second wrote: “Let me tell y’all, don’t bother going through to Edinburgh Christmas market, it’s 1/3 of the normal size.”
Another person said: “Edinburgh Christmas market is rubbish compared to last year and I’m sure they’ve bumped all the prices up. £10 a skull for the big wheel.”
A fourth wrote: “Christmas Market in Edinburgh is a shambles!”
And a fifth said: “Well Edinburgh Christmas Market was underwhelming and very expensive!”
