With only 12 on offer, boss John Hennessey made them as extravagant as possible – even retailing them without a roof.

It’s been stripped down and now weighs less than 1360kg to make it one of the fastest and lightest cars available.

With promises of “phenomenal acceleration” expected with the new design, manufacturers believe it can top previous car records of 0-62mph in 2.6 seconds.

The stunning sleek sports car claims to be the quickest convertible ever created.

It has a seven-speed automatic gearbox, a leather interior and a racing car-type wheel.

A real-time digital track system capable of measuring data such as lap times, splits and cornering g-forces is also included.

Named the Venom F5 Revolution Roadster, it is said to be an improved version of the standard Venom F5 Roadster.

Despite costing a whopping £2.4m, it offers an “unmatched visceral driving experience”, said Hennessey.

He added: “Our hypercar is a timeless work of art that is as visually inspiring as it is physically engaging, thanks to its 1,817-hp combustion-only twin-turbocharged V8.”

It comes after a 250mph Porsche sports car that raced at Le Mans became road legal.

The German-built 962 took part in the classic 24-hour endurance race in the 1980s but has now been fitted with a passenger seat, a handbrake and indicators so it can be driven on the road.
