Shock reason Dean Henderson is still at Man Utd revealed as Nottingham Forest sweat over transfer

MANCHESTER UNITED goalkeeper Dean Henderson is yet to sign for Nottingham Forest due to an injury.

The 26-year-old tore his thigh in January – midway through his loan spell at the City Ground last season.

He underwent an operation in May and has since returned to light training at Man Utd‘s Carrington base.

Although Henderson made just 20 appearances during the 2022-23 campaign, Nottingham Forest have been eager to sign him on a permanent basis this summer.

However, they have not yet been able to complete a deal due to the severity of the goalkeeper’s thigh issue.

Despite Henderson’s steady progress in training, SunSport understands there remains a real threat that the strenuous medical required by Forest risks aggravating his injury and causing more damage.

Man Utd are reluctant to risk a further setback for the academy graduate, so they are not yet willing to sanction a move yet.

Both parties are now willing to wait until he has fully recovered.

While an exact timeframe has not yet been put on Henderson’s recovery, Nottingham Forest are hoping to complete a deal for him towards the end of the transfer window.

The Reds are already on the verge of signing Matt Turner from Arsenal.
