Harry Maguire snubbed AGAIN for Man Utd captaincy by Ten Hag as surprise team-mate leads fringe XI vs Athletic Bilbao

United’s clash with the La Liga outfit is their last before their Premier League season opener against Wolves on Monday, 14 August.

Earlier this summer Maguire was stripped of the armband by Erik ten Hag, with SunSport revealing the England international was left “angry, shocked and upset” over the move.

And it seems he is no longer part of the squad’s leadership group, after back-up goalkeeper Tom Heaton was named as United’s captain for the clash this afternoon.

The rest of the XI hands starts to many reserve team stars.

Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Alvaro Fernandez complete the United back line.

In midfield, Christian Eriksen lines up alongside Donny van de Beek and Dan Gore, while Jadon Sancho, Omari Forson and Facundo Pellistri make up the attack.

Maguire had been named skipper under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Many of United’s first teamers featured in their 3-1 win over Lens yesterday.

The clash saw Andre Onana and Mason Mount making their Old Trafford debuts in United shirts.

Onana had a horror start after being chipped from the halfway line, while Mount had a shocker when missing an open goal.

But goals from Marcus Rashford, Antony and Casemiro turned the tie around, giving Rasmus Hojlund a glimpse of what he can expect when he makes his bow after returning from injury.

That means it’s the perfect time to brush up on how to pronounce his name, with the Dane – who was revealed to fans at Old Trafford – explaining how to say it.
