Alicia Keys’ son guards her on stage after recent concert assaults: ‘My boy said I’m not playing’

Alicia Keys’ son took on the role of his mum’s personal bodyguard at her recent Seattle show.

The Girl on Fire singer, 42, was joined on stage at her show on Sunday by her eight-year-old son Genesis. 

With the disturbing trend of late where fans have been throwing things at artists mid-concert, Genesis stepped up to protect his mum and ward off any offenders.

Keys’ husband Swizz Beatz shared pictures to Instagram on Monday of their son protecting his mum on stage.

In the photos, the eight-year-old is standing closely beside Keys with his hands in his pockets while she plays the piano to the crowd.

“My boy said I’m not playing no games on mom’s stage,” Beatz captioned the carousel post with lots of laughing emojis.

“Thank you Gen we love you and your protection 😂 He didn’t care she was live on stage 😂😂😂😂,” he added.

In one of the pictures, Beatz shared a sweet moment where his son turned to face Keys while she was performing and leaned against the piano to listen.

On the first photo, Beatz seemed to address his son was motivated to be on stage after the slew of disturbing concert incidents recently.

”He heard how people been acting at shows lately,” he wrote on the picture. “My boy serious in real life,” Beatz shared along with the snaps of Genesis looking serious at the audience.

In the comments, many joined in to laugh at the incident but also recognise the serious sadness behind why Genesis was on stage. 

“😭😂 he not playing bout his momma OK!!!! Just Know that!!!!” American rapper Bia commented on the post.

Rapper Jadakiss also chimed in, joking: “He wasn’t playing about that shirt swime he said matter fact security stand down tonight i got this.”

Actress Tracee Elliss Ross wrote that while the pictures were “hilarious”, it was “also not funny at all.”

“People have lost their minds,” she wrote.

A slew of artists have been headlines of late after being assaulted on stage by fans at their concerts.

Beatz’ post comes after a fan threw a drink at Cardi B on stage the day before. 

The singer, 30, was performing her hit track Bodak Yellow when she was splashed in the face by an audience member’s drink. 

The rapper retaliated by throwing her microphone and hitting a fan, who has since filed assault charges. 

In July, Drake was a victim of this ‘trend’ after a concert-goer threw a phone at the Hotline Bling singer on stage, who continued to perform seemingly unfazed. 

A couple of days after, Harry Styles was hit in the eye by an object thrown at him from the audience.

Similarly, pop star Bebe Rexha was also hit in the face by a phone flung from the audience at her concert in June. 

The phone struck the singer’s eye, requiring her to get stitches after the performance. 

Country star Kelsea Ballerini was yet another artist to be struck in the face by an item flung at her from the audience at her show in Idaho.

The singer was hit in the eye and promptly left the stage mid-way through her performance, posting an Instagram update after the concert addressing the unacceptable concert etiquette of late. 

Pop singer Pink had an unusual encounter with a fan after they threw a bag of their mother’s ashes on stage at the singer, who appeared visibly unsettled. 

Sweet but Psycho singer Ava Max had a disturbing incident at her June concert in LA  when a fan rushed onto the stage and smacked her in the face. 

British singer Adele commented on the terrifying antics of late aimed at performers, criticising people for “forgetting f–king show etiquette at the moment.”

“”I f–king dare you, dare you to throw something at me,” she was heard saying in a TikTok video posted by a fan at the Las Vegas show.
