The Red Devils played four friendlies during their pre-season trip to the USA.

A win over Arsenal was followed by defeats to Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

Meanwhile, a youthful United side were also beaten by Wrexham in a heated encounter last week.

The Telegraph report that Ten Hag was keen to implement a new approach to nutrition with his players during the trip.

The move saw his United stars wear continuous blood glucose monitors on the tour as they prepare to receive specific strategies.

After returning to England, they will wear sweat patches to analyse their individual hydration levels and asses their sweat rates.

Ten Hag’s attention to detail in training was also on display, according to the report.

Ahead of training in San Diego, the Dutchman’s backroom staff set out the pitches in advance of the session.

However, Ten Hag was then spotted moving one of the training mannequins several times during the session to get it into the right position.

He also monitored training heavily by filming every session from above with drones in order to get a better look at his team.

Those drone shots were unable to prevent defeats to Real Madrid and Dortmund, though, after the 2-0 opening win over Arsenal.

Fans were given the chance to see new signings Mason Mount and Andre Onana in action during the tour despite the losses.

New goalkeeper Onana caught the eye with his passing in the defeat to Dortmund.

He was also spotted berating Harry Maguire after the German side missed a chance to score.

United conclude their pre-season schedule this weekend with matches against Lens and Athletic Bilbao.

The Red Devils will then begin the season at home to Wolves on August 14.
